“Cinderella Slippers”

 Pieces/Patterns

Left & Right. Seam is at the front center.  A= 14”X9” at bottom, 12” X 9” top.  5” tall for both pieces.

“Cuff” (goes at the bottom of A & B and next to the sole piece).  18” X 3” (this piece not fully trimmed, should match the brown paper pattern)

Close view of A piece.   14” at bottom, 12” at the top.  5” tall.

B is similar but shorter.

A is the ‘closing’ strip that will wrap more around the ‘slipper’ and Velcro to the front of the boot.

Bottom of the boot.  Mine are 5 ¼” by 6”.  They could be adjusted to any size foot.

Just make sure to leave at least ¼” for seams, usually a bit more since they need to be ‘tougher!’

Key is to make sure the C (cuff) piece fits around the circumference of the D piece.

A & B will be offset, with A being the longer piece (as seen below A is in the background, B is closest)

v    I start by sewing C to D (cuff to the sole).

v    A & B get sewn together at the diagonal/front.  I also hem the top & edges as well.

v    I start by sewing the short B piece on first. This gets tricky!  When A meets up with B, stop connecting A to the Cuff piece.  What’s left will need to be your ‘overlap’ and will have the Velcro added to secure.

v    I fold the excess of A so that it forms a bit of a pointed edge.

v    Using the plastic coating (from Menards/Lowes/Home Depot) I cover the bottom and the C (cuff) with 2 coats to protect.  Let one coat dry overnight (4-8 hours) then add next coat.

v    Material is rain coat material. Bought at JoAnn’s in a bolt.  This is the only type I’ve tried so far.

v    I’ve put Comfort Pads in the bottom (1/2” thick) and they really add a nice cushion.

v    I add only a strip or two of duct tape for extra security. Watch that they don’t wear them off or they are too big!

v    Adjust your pattern according to foot size, can also make the cuff or the A/B sections taller to wrap taller, but this size currently hits my QH/Arab right at her pasterns.
